Born in Scherzingen at the Lake of Constance (Switzerland) in 1973, I grew up in the county of Appenzell with very sportive parents. After finishing school in Speicher and Trogen, I went to Ireland for half a year. In Dublin, I worked as au pair in family with four children and improved my English.
In Constance and Bonn, I then studied political science, history and German literature. I spent part of my time with a student initiative called “The Political Circle at the University of Bonn”. Internships in Geneva, Vienna and New York broadened my mind. I did my M.A. in 1998 followed by the PhD exam in 2003 (Professor Uwe Holtz, University of Bonn).
Since 1998, I have worked for the Development and Peace Foundation, Bonn, since 2004 as its Executive Director. Since 2004, I am also a member of the Global Policy Forum Europe’s executive board.
In my spear time, I very much like to travel and to take pictures. I also like to play games like “Settlers of Cartan” or “Carcassonne”, to prepare tasty meals or to go to the movies or to concerts.
